Automating risk assessment at an investment firm
Investment banking firm
The challenge
Analysts spent much of their week extracting the same fields from the same document types by hand, then re-keying them into a risk model. It was slow, expensive, and inconsistently done.
What we did
- Built an extraction pipeline for the highest-volume document types
- Routed every low-confidence extraction to a human, rather than guessing
- Preserved a complete audit trail: every field traceable back to the page and line it came from
- Worked with compliance from week one, not as a final gate
Outcome
- Manual processing time reduced dramatically on covered document types
- Full auditability — every extracted value traceable to its source
- Analysts moved onto judgement work instead of transcription
“The audit trail was non-negotiable and they understood that before we had to explain it.”— Investment banking firm
