About this role
A client is seeking an API Solution Architect (Node.js) for a fully remote W2 contract role at $55-$60/hr. You will architect and lead enterprise-scale API solutions using Node.js, NestJS, Express and Fastify; design and implement REST APIs, GraphQL services and event-driven integrations; drive modernization using LLM-powered migration factories, GitHub Copilot skills and AI-assisted engineering accelerators; establish OpenAPI-first development standards, governance and best practices; build secure, cloud-native solutions across AWS, Azure and GCP; lead API security, lifecycle management, observability and performance engineering; and mentor development teams while providing strategic architectural guidance.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years in Solution Architecture, Principal Architecture or Enterprise Architecture roles
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript and JavaScript
- NestJS, Express and Fastify
- Microservices and event-driven architecture
- REST, GraphQL and gRPC
- API security and governance
- Docker and Kubernetes
- CI/CD and DevSecOps
- AWS, Azure and/or GCP
- Experience with enterprise API platforms and API modernization programs
- Experience with generative AI and LLM-powered development, GitHub Copilot customization and AI engineering workflows
- Preferred: cloud certifications (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Preferred: Kafka, RabbitMQ, EventBridge
- Preferred: Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, New Relic
- Preferred: enterprise digital transformation programs
- Preferred: leading globally distributed engineering teams
