The client is seeking an experienced High-Net-Worth Tax Supervisor or Manager to oversee complex tax engagements for wealthy individuals, families, and related entities.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in high-net-worth tax compliance, review, planning, advisory, client management, staff supervision, and practice development. The role will involve managing engagements from initial planning through final delivery while working directly with clients, tax department partners, team members, and government agencies.
Candidates located in the New York or New Jersey area are highly preferred. However, qualified candidates located elsewhere in the United States are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee complex tax engagements from planning through final delivery.
Ensure tax projects and client deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with client expectations.
Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s business, investments, family structure, and tax requirements.
Prepare, review, and manage tax returns, extensions, tax-planning calculations, and related deliverables.
Oversee tax work involving individuals, trusts, estates, gifts, partnerships, corporations, and other related entities.
Prepare and review complex tax-planning projections for high-net-worth individuals and business entities.
Manage client deadlines, filing requirements, engagement progress, and outstanding deliverables.
Prepare and review complex U.S. federal, multistate, and international income tax returns.
Review returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, consolidated entities, and nonconsolidated entities.
Conduct complex tax research and prepare technical memoranda documenting findings and conclusions.
Communicate with the IRS and state tax agencies regarding audits, inquiries, notices, and other tax matters.
Communicate directly with clients, colleagues, firm leadership, and government representatives.
Delegate work to appropriate team members and provide technical accounting and tax guidance.
Review staff work and support the development of junior and intermediate tax professionals.
Assist with new-hire training, ongoing employee development, and career guidance.
Support business-development initiatives by meeting with prospective clients, evaluating client needs, and preparing fee quotes and proposals.
Help improve the firm’s tax software, internal processes, and engagement workflows.
Participate in consulting engagements and special projects requested by clients or firm leadership.
Take direction from and report directly to the partners of the tax department.
Skills - Must Have:
Active CPA designation or Enrolled Agent credential
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience
Experience at the Tax Supervisor, Tax Manager, or equivalent level
Previous high-net-worth individual tax experience
Experience serving wealthy individuals, families, and related entities
Experience preparing or reviewing complex individual income tax returns
Experience preparing or reviewing trust tax returns
Currently located in the United States
Legally authorized to work in the United States
