The client is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its Woodbury, New York office. This is a hybrid position requiring regular in-office attendance.

The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax engagements from planning through final delivery, manage client relationships and filing deadlines, review staff work, and provide technical guidance to members of the tax team. The role covers individual, corporate, partnership, multistate, and international tax matters.


Key Responsibilities:
Oversee tax engagements from initial planning through final delivery.
Ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with client expectations.
Develop a detailed understanding of clients’ industries, businesses, and tax requirements.
Prepare and review tax returns, extensions, tax-planning calculations, and related deliverables.
Review complex individual, partnership, C corporation, and S corporation tax returns.
Prepare and review complex tax-planning projections for individuals and business entities.
Manage client deliverables, filing requirements, engagement progress, and due dates.
Prepare and review U.S. federal, multistate, and international income tax returns.
Conduct complex tax research and prepare memoranda outlining findings and conclusions.
Respond to IRS and state tax agency audits, inquiries, notices, and other correspondence.
Communicate directly with clients, firm leadership, colleagues, and government representatives.
Delegate work to tax staff and provide technical accounting and tax guidance.
Review staff deliverables and support employee training and career development.
Assist with business-development activities, prospective-client meetings, fee quotes, and proposals.
Help improve the firm’s tax software, processes, and engagement workflows.
Complete consulting engagements and special projects requested by clients or firm leadership.
Report directly to the partners of the tax department.


Skills - Must Have:
Active CPA designation or Enrolled Agent credential
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
Minimum 7 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm
Experience with individual, C corporation, S corporation, and partnership taxation
Experience preparing and reviewing complex federal and multistate tax returns
Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax-planning projections
Experience managing tax engagements and reviewing or supervising tax staff
Currently based within commuting distance of Woodbury, New York, and able to maintain a hybrid work schedule
